WWHS Driver's Education Schedule - Fall 2022

WWHS Class Information

Instructors:  John Broome and Ben Keesee
Class Location:  West Wilkes High School
Class Dates:  October 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 31; November 1, 2, 3, and 4 (Make-up Day)
Class Time:  3:30-6:00 PM
Make-up Date:  November 4, 2022
Parent Meeting:  Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 6:00 PM in the Media Center at West Wilkes High School

Additional Information and Requirements

A $65 fee will be collected for the class during the Parent Meeting.  Please make check payable to West Wilkes High School or bring cash. Class rules and regulations will be discussed during this meeting as well.
 
State law requires students to be 14½ on or before the first day of class. This is a 30-hour course, and all students must attend 30 hours of instructions. Only one absence is allowed and must be made up. The class is open to all public school, private school, and homeschooled students. 
 
Registration forms may be picked up at the front office at West Wilkes High School, West Wilkes Middle School, WECHS, or MCCS. You may also download and print the form from our website (click here to access the online Driver's Education Registration Form). Be sure to include the student's school email address (if applicable) and at least two (2) phone numbers. Registration forms should be returned to the main office at West Wilkes High School or West Wilkes Middle School.

NWHS Driver's Education Schedule - Fall 2022

Instructor: Lloyd Walker
Class Location: North Wilkes High School (Basement classroom beside weight room)
Tentative Date Range: September 27 through October 20
Proposed Class Dates: September 27, 28, 29; October 3, 4, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24, and 25 (Make-up Day)
Class Time: 3:45-5:45 PM
Make-up Date: October 25, 2022 will be required for any student that misses a day of class
Disclaimer: Dates are always subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

Additional Information and Requirements

State law requires students to be 14½ on or before the first day of class. Students must be 14½ by Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Registration forms may be picked up in the front office or downloaded from the district website (click here to access the online Driver's Education Registration Form). Be sure to include the student's school email address (if applicable) and at least two (2) phone numbers. 
 
Forms and the $65 course fee should be returned to school by Friday, September 23rd. Please make checks payable to North Wilkes High School or bring exact change. Class size will be limited, and another class will be scheduled if the need arises. Preference will be given to the oldest students. This is a 30-hour course, and all students must attend 30 hours of instructions. Only one absence is allowed and must be made up.
 
The class is open to all public school, private school, and homeschooled students.

Class Location:  East Wilkes High School
Class Dates:  October 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, and 26 (Make-up Day)
Class Time:  3:30-6:30 PM
Make-up Date:  October 26, 2022
Parent Meeting:  Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 6:00 PM in the Media Center at East Wilkes High School

Class Location:  Wilkes Central High School
Class Dates:  October 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 31; November 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, and 10 (Make-up Day)
Class Time:  3:40-5:40 PM
Make-up Date:  November 10, 2022
Parent Meeting:  Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 5:30 PM (for $65 fee collection) and 6:00 PM (for a short meeting) in the Media Center at West Wilkes High School

A Parent Meeting will be held on October 4, 2022. A $65 fee will be collected for the class starting at 5:30 PM.  Please make checks payable to Wilkes Central High School or bring cash. A short meeting will begin at 6:00 PM. Class rules and regulations will be discussed during this meeting.

This is a 30-hour course, and all students must attend 30 hours of instruction. Only one absence is allowed and must be made up.
 
The class is open to all public school, private school, and homeschooled students.

Students will be contacted through email/telephone call to confirm enrollment. If a student is not contacted 24 hours in advance of the first scheduled session, the instructor should be notified. Please contact Mike Greene at (336) 957-6627 or [email protected].
 
Behind-the-Wheel Training will begin with the oldest students being scheduled first. Please do not expect to be given a driving schedule when the classroom portion is completed. Mike Greene will be in charge of BTW training, and there are many factors that determine when students are scheduled. Every effort is made to get students through this hands-on training as soon as possible.
