Wilkes County High Schools to Host Be Pro Be Proud Events: Engaging Students and Young Adults in Technical Careers

Wilkes County, NC – September 2024 – Wilkes County Schools, in collaboration with the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department, is excited to announce the Be Pro Be Proud events coming to all four high schools in the district this October and November. These innovative events aim to inspire students and young adults by connecting them with technical career opportunities through engaging simulation experiences and pathways to post-secondary education and rewarding careers.

Be Pro Be Proud is leading a movement to elevate skilled professions and provide a direct connection between talent and opportunity. The initiative emphasizes the vast potential within technical careers, offering interactive simulations and hands-on experiences that highlight the exciting possibilities of these fields.

The Be Pro Be Proud events, hosted by the CTE department, will feature:

  • Simulation Experiences: Dive into interactive simulations that give students a taste of various
technical careers. Whether it's engineering, IT, or trades, these simulations offer a realistic glimpse into the day-to-day of these professions.

"Be Pro Be Proud aligns with our goal of preparing students for successful futures by providing them with real-world experiences and connections to rewarding careers," said Mark Byrd, Superintendent of Wilkes County Schools. "We are excited to partner with the CTE department to bring these dynamic events to life."

The Be Pro Be Proud events will take place on the following dates:

  • West Wilkes High School - October 28 & 29
  • Wilkes Central High School - October 30 & 31
  • Wilkes Early College High School - November 1
  • North Wilkes High School - November 12 & 13
  • East Wilkes High School - November 14 & 15

Please note that these events are exclusively for high school students and are not open to the public.
